David Frohman, President of Peachstate Historical Consulting, Inc., is pleased to announce that the space autograph & artifact auction held by R.R. Auctions that he arranged was a great success.
The 450 lot auction contained some of the finest space material ever offered at auction, including the legendary Apollo 11 "CAPCOM" headset used by moonwalker Charles M. Duke, Jr. to talk Armstrong and Aldrin down to the first lunar landing. The headset was uncovered by Frohman during his work cataloging the "Charles M. Duke Space Collection" circa 2000. It was later acquired by Frohman for Peachstate and later sold into the world-class space collection of a noted private collector.
"I am thrilled to see the final auction results", Frohman stated. "The core of this auction comprised items originating from a spectacular private space collection that I helped to carefully build over many years. R.R. Auctions, in-turn, is a very fine firm that had expressed an interest to me in conducting a dedicated space auction, and I am thrilled that I was able to bring these two parties together so successfully!"
Building on the success of this auction, R.R. Auctions had now announced a second space auction to occur in the fall of 2011.
